| I noticed that the Hill# has been removed from this instrument's identification. What is the reason why? Is it possibly related to the integration of the Hill information that was mentioned in the latest general post?

Yes, as we go through the Hill archives, we are finding some errors that we are correcting. In this case, the Christies catalog had listed the Hill number as A382, which was incorrect. In fact, there are no Hill numbers beginning with A.

No A382, but N 382.

The Hill numbers also did not begin with an N. Certain letters were skipped because they were too easily confused with other letters or numbers.

Hi Phil, on the violin was the inscription "93H & S-N 382." Number not have a letter of the index only numbers 382. Or 1893 Hill & Sons N 382. Where N is not the letter and only number.
