Old unlabeled violin. I have no idea about where or when it could have been made. It is really beautiful and seems to be finely made and also sounds fine. I would appreciate any information you can add. I enclose some photos and hope they are clear enough. Thanks.

PS. I must apologize for removing images because I needed space to upload more. Sorry.

Nice-ish quality Mittenwald 1830/40, in my opinion.

Thanks for your kind info.

PS: As my mother language is not english would you please help me and explain to me what does "nice-ish" mean? I'm afraid I have not been able to find it in my dictionary. Regards.

Sorry Holo, I mean "quite nice" quality. That period in Mittenwald produces a vast number of instruments, and many of a similar type to yours. Some better than others.

Anybody else wants to add anything?? agree, or contradict me??

Hey everyone,

rat, I think I can agree with you. For me it would be even possible that the violin was also built some years before (around 1790-1830) in Füssen or Mittenwald, regarding to the model that is quite thin in its proportions (shoulders-c-bouts, Kloz-School influence; arching)

Such instruments anyway are found pretty often on the market, lots of them are not really best quality (to say it nicely), but sometimes there are examples that are beautiful and well-sounding.

I wish everyone a good 2010.
Best,
pharus
