| To all who know something about violins. I have a wonderfull violin for some time. I really like the instrument, the sound is beautiful. But i want to know what it is. I went to a violin builder, but he didn't dare to say. he said, it was a beauty, probably more then 200 years old. But he didn't ( want ) to say from where. The violin is 4/4, has a repair label, by josef Vedral, a really well known dutch violin dailer, of the last century. The violin has a one piece back, and a double purfling. There are some repaired cracks. And the varnish is brown/orange. The scroll is really beautiful and long. Bit gagliano model like ?? And grafted. The pictures i made this evening, are not all really good, but if people want, i will make more better pictures tomorrow by day light. Please only say something, if u know something about violins, because otherwise i maybe will believe it's a real gagliano when it's not haha. And when more pictures are neccecary, please say. Thanks a lot really. And sorry for my english.

i have to say that you own a nice and interesting instrument in a good condition.
i am not an expert but i like violins and i spent a lot of time with them in my life already.
in my opinion this violin has a mix of different styles. at least for me i cant define well where it comes from. the f-hole positions look a bit belgian/netherlandish to me, the slim body makes me think of kloz school in germany. the varnish could be northern italian, the scroll is also nice. in general it seems to be a quite personal model of a luthier (that i might not know). for a kloz the varnish is too deep i think and bright.
if i were you i and i would like to know who made this violin in which century i would go to a well-known violin expert (i dont know where you are situated) and show him the violin. you have maybe to pay something (for sure if you want to have a certificate) but at least you are sure then what you own...
probably there might post some of the experts here in the forum also. in any case i am also interested what violin it is.
have fun with it,
best,
pharus

| Are there please some more people who can say anything haha. I went to andreas post, a violin dailer in amsterdam. And he said it was a interesting violin probably markneukirchen around 200 years old. Now the violin will be there for 3 weeks for too expensive crack repair, that u can see right under at the front, next to the saddle. The violin has to be opened for this, that's why it takes so long and will be expensive. Florean Leonard said, the violin was interesting enough for me, to come to london and let him examinate the violin carefully. Best regards
