Hi All,
From my research I'm thinking that this violin might be a ERNST KREUSLER german copy of a Gagliano.
But it could be anyone's Gagliano as well...
The label reads:
Joanes Gagliano / Nepos Januait fecit / Neapoli 1817
It seems similar in construction and flavor to this one but without the ebony heel cap:

another clue is that the bow is stamped "Germany" near the frog.
Of course I'm not sure that the violin and bow is an original set...
Any information would be appreciated as far as maker or date made or where else I might be able to find information about this instrument.
Thanks so much...

hey,
for me this violin does not seem to be an old italian instrument made by gagliano or his school. german violin might be a good hint, however i dont know the maker you mentioned but might be a good guess..
looking at the photos of the instrument i think the fingerboard angle is a bit weird because there is one small piece of wood and then one more glued on it, gently inclined. the experience that i have is that when the fingerboard has a too big angle to the corpus of the violin the responsiveness of the instrument is getting worse, so if you might have tonal problems in this directions on that instrument i would change this...
just a little idea, if you post something here concerning photos i feel much more comfortable seeing the whole violin from front, back and side and maybe the scroll at first and then if you like some more detailled photos afterwards..

hope i could help a little
best wishes anyway
