I purchased a 'cello from Jacques Francais in 1966, which he identified as made by Gand Laval circa 1850 in Mirecourt. The label is illegible, but there is a brand stamped "Gand Laval" on the instrument near the top just above the end-pin.

Can someone give me further information about the maker of this instrument? I have been unable to find any reference whatever to this maker.

Thanks.

Sam Woodward
