Hi there!
A friend of mine bought a Hellmer cello (or at least it seems to be) the thing is, apart to identify if it's original or not, the neck seems to be original, very uncommon in a 1762 cello.
Please, some ideas?

So, here are some more photos.
The neck and scroll are one piece. Strange for a 1762 instrument...

That's exactly the point. The scroll seems to be original...
Two things: The neck and scroll were made in 19th century or the entire cello is a Hellmer copy made in 19th century... which I doubt.

| It's not raised and angled at the heel, near the body of the cello, is it? Maybe Hellmer was just really advanced for his time... or maybe... he had a time machine.. hhmmmmm

No.
As you can see in the photo, it's only one piece and the angle is perfect for our days.

| Ah, couldn't quite tell from the photos. Well, must have been the time machine theory then!
