Are people aware of Dietmar Machold's Tactics.

He offers to sell valuable instruments, takes them away and then does not pay up.

There are currently a number of Court Cases all over the world being pursued by clients who are owed millions. interpol is involved.

He has offices all over the globe, in America, Vienna etc.

He should be in prison.

Can you be more specific? There are so many rumors flying around the violin business that I've learned to be very cautious about which ones to believe.

Regarding Machold, I know of one settled case in the U.S. and one ongoing (and rather bizarre) case in Vienna, but being sued by a party does not necessarily mean that one is guilty. Before we put Dietmar in prison, don't you think we should first let the courts decide whether he's guilty of anything?

Yes, this all seems a little forward. I'm not asking for details, and you dont have to answer of course, but do you have first hand experience with this? Seems rather unfair to say he should be in jail when we're not sure if this is a rumor or not.

I sent two old violins that were in our family for years to Machold New York for repair.  Despite my many calls the violins were never returned. One was signed Antonio Stradiveri.  Now Machold is no where to be found.  How can I track him and my violins down ?

I just noticed that their web site is no longer active. Have they gone out of business? Can anyone provide more information?
