Notes

"The violin remains in a very pure state, with a still intact one piece lower rib and the button relatively unaltered. It is likely that the corners and rib miters were originally longer and were perhaps shortened on the instructions of Count Cozio di Salabue in the early 19th century. It is interesting to note the small original insets to the lower areas of the back in this example.. The eminent firm of W.E. Hill & Sons considered this violin to be one of the four finest Bergonzis in existence."

"According to a study by AFVBM (the american Federation of Violin and Bow Makers) in 2008, the locating pins of this violin are square pins with round holes, which are a unique innovation to modern violin makers."
